UN Sex-Education Guidelines Keeps Parents, Morals Out

The UN believes teachers and politicians are the only ones qualified to teach sex-ed.

Martinsburg, WV – A fantastic article came across my desk by Janice Shaw Crouse, writing at Townhall.com, entitled “A Report on the U.N.’s Shocking Sexuality Guidelines.” I would encourage every parent of a school-aged child to read this article in order to gain a better understanding of the liberal-lefts agenda in “educating” your children. But for the space I would reproduce the article here, I will however summarize some keys aspects and hope you will take time to read the full article later.

This summer the United Nations Economic, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) – two United Nations agencies – issued some very controversial and troubling new guidelines for desired sex-education of children around the world. Let me highlight some of the main points of the new guidelines:

The “need and entitlement” for sexuality education for children beginning at age five.

The absolute human “right” of young people to have sexuality education, access to condoms, and abortion-on-demand.

In the view of the United Nations, sexuality education is the responsibility of “education and health authorities” not parents.

Five- to eight-year-olds are told that “touching and rubbing one’s genitals … ‘can feel pleasurable.

Nine- to twelve-year-olds learn how to get and use condoms, emergency contraception, the “signs and symptoms” of pregnancy, and all about sexual pleasure and orgasm.

Twelve- to fifteen-year-olds are told about their right to safe abortions and post abortion care, how to use emergency contraception, and that the size and shape of the penis or breasts does not affect sexual pleasure.

Are you troubled yet? Don’t overlook one of the main points here, the UN thinks that teachers and politicians are the only ones qualified to give YOUR children the sex-education they “deserve.” They want to strip you as parents of the right to decide what and when your kids learn about sex and force them to take part in government mandated programs that will teach ideals totally contrary to what you as a parent believes; and they don’t want you to have the right to stop it. The article later says,

“At the outset, the report makes it clear that ‘good’ sexuality education should ‘take priority over personal opinion’ — which, being translated, means trample all over traditional morality.”

So, mom and dad, if you hold to traditional values and morals you may be in danger of having some principal, school board official, or judge tell you that your faith is too rigid and your children need a broader education. Think it will never happen? Just ask the 10-year old in New Hampshire it just happened to last week.

Let me make two points very clearly. One, no sex-education or abstinence program will keep every child from having sex; it’s just not realistic. Though abstinence programs are far superior and yield far better results than any other programs. Two, it is not the governments job to decide issues of morality for any child. It is the government’s job to provide a quality education that will prepare our children for life as a productive adult in society; which sex-education does not do.

It’s far past time for parents to stand up and be heard on these vital issues. If we continue to let the minority trample our convictions and values, we will wake up one day without any freedoms at all. Mom, dad, it’s time to let your lawmakers know how you feel. As for the UN’s sex-education guidelines…ludicrous.
